Interview Self-Assessment

 

 Ask yourself these questions:

 Why do I want to be on the radio or TV? 

  What is my purpose?

  Most importantly, will the audience even know what I came there to tell them?

 

In order to have an effective radio or TV interview, ask yourself these 5 questions about your last interview:

 

 _____YES  _____NO          Did I refine my core message down to an understandable delivery?

____YES _____NO      Have I answered the below the surface questions that the audience wants to hear? Why should I listen to you and what’s in it for me?

____YES _____NO  Talk show hosts are famous for getting the guest off message.  Did I answer the last unconnected question in a way that brought me back on message in a meaningful way? 

  ______YES ____NO   Did I bury my message in jargon, language that lost the audience?

____YES _____NO Did I address the problem that my interview was the answer for in a way the audience understood?

 

If you have honestly answered YES to all of the above questions, you are on your way to engaging and capturing your audience!
